Sketchbook mentor, art shop raider and pencil hoarder
When I’m not teaching, running my pottery cafe in Woking, writing books about sketching, or talking about all things creative, I’m busy being a mama to my very strong-willed daughter, dancing Salsa, practicing yoga, or sewing my own clothes.
So, believe me when I say I get it - life’s full-on busy! It’s why my own creativity has fluctuated over the years. And it’s what inspired me to create this space for you. So that amid life's beautiful, messy chaos, your sketchbook practice remains as easy, accessible, and constant as possible.
Let’s keep it simple. Let’s just sketch for the love of sketching, shall we?

Here’s some of what we have been sketching in 2025...
March 2025 - Waves, Woods and Wilds
In March we welcomed guest tutor Kelly Herrick into the community. She shared some wonderful sketching tutorials exploring landscapes in watercolour and graphite in. a loose and expressive way.
APRil 2025 - Blue
In April this year we focussed specifically on a colour (my favourite one!) - blue. All the tutorials this mont explored different ways to sketch in blue, including watercolour play, blue floral designs and a blue colour blend.
May 2025 - Watercolour Birds
Guest artist Gemma Lane, brought her expertise into painting watercolour birds in our sketchbooks. We also explored some past tutorials with other guests such as Ali C Board and Natalie Eslick.

Oh, I feel you.Our lives are so busy - mine included. The best thing about Inspire is that it’s a membership, not a course. This means that you can dip in and out as suits you. It’ll always be there for you to return to! I make sure that all videos are 'bite-sized' and digestible. So even with just 10 minutes to spare, you can still enjoy Inspire. Remember, there is no ‘behind' and no pressure to do all the activities the membership offers.

What a great question. Think about Inspire as your sketchbook play and foundational creative work. It's like jogging to warm up before a marathon or practising your scales before playing an entire concert. Members of Inspire do all sorts of art (which is what’s so beautiful about this community). Inspire offers a well-needed boost of creativity, and it can make you a more well-rounded artist in the process. Inspire aims to complement all other artistic practices, and we actively encourage sharing your other work in the community space... we wanna see all the creative goodness out there!
We do cover a mixture of subjects and materials in Inspire. I recommend that you have a sketchbook or some paper, plus basic drawing materials such as pencils and pens, and we also regularly use different paint types. I will always provide ideas for alternative materials, so a small selection will serve you well.
Yes, you can! Cancel your subscription to the membership whenever you want on the community portal page. Please note that once you cancel your subscription, you can no longer access the community portal (i.e., all the videos) or the Facebook Group.
