How it Works

01

Book your place
Choose one session or all three. You'll receive a confirmation email straight away with further details of what to expect.

02

Set yourself up
Gather a few simple supplies from the materials list. Nothing specialist - most things you'll already have. Settle in somewhere comfortable.

03

Join on the night
Click your Zoom link at 6.30pm on the Thursday. We sketch together for 90 minutes - relaxed, guided, and at a gentle pace.

04

Watch back anytime
Can't make it live? No problem. A recording of the full session is available to everyone who registers, for three months after the event.

The three sessions

Each one is completely standalone - come to one, come to two, or come to all three. They work beautifully together but there's no obligation to book the series.

session one

Sketching Terracotta Pots

An evening of pencil, pen and watercolour, with a touch of the Tuscan terrace

THURSDAY 23 JULY  ·  6.30–8PM

We'll start with something humble and beautiful - an old terracotta pot. Pencil first, to find the shape and the shadows, then fineliner for the cracks and the character, then a wash of watercolour to bring in that warm, earthy glow. There's something deeply satisfying about sketching an ordinary object with this much attention. By the end of the evening you'll never look at a terracotta pot the same way again.

session two

Sketching the Herb Garden

Looking closely at herbs from the garden - mark-making, tone and texture

THURSDAY 13 AUGUST  ·  6.30–8PM

This session is about learning to look carefully at a small, familiar thing. We'll work with rosemary and other herbs from the garden, exploring mark-making techniques in pencil and fineliner: blind contour, continuous line, negative space, shadow shapes and tone. No colour this evening, just the quiet pleasure of pen and pencil on paper. If you've ever wanted to slow down and actually see what you're looking at, this is the session for you.

£20  ·  includes 3-month replay

session three

mindful colour play

A playful evening of colour, paint and pattern

THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER  ·  6.30–8PM

Our final evening together is a little different. There's no subject to sketch from observation - instead, we slow right down, pick up our brushes and let colour lead the way, building up a joyful, meditative page of marks and pattern. It's the kind of session that quietens a busy mind and leaves you feeling settled. Come exactly as you are, with no expectation of what the page should look like.

£20  ·  includes 3-month replay

Can't make it live?

Everyone who registers receives a recording of the full session, whether or not they join on the night. You'll have access to watch it back for three months, so a Thursday evening that doesn't quite work is never a reason not to book.

Already an Inspire member?

These three sessions are included in your membership - you will automatically be sent the links to the Zoom sessions and the recordings added to the Inspire Member Portal... You don't need to do anything except turn up!

FAQ

your questions answered

Not at all. These sessions are designed to be welcoming whatever your starting point. If you can hold a pencil, you're ready. I will guide you through every step, at a relaxed pace, and there's no expectation of what your sketchbook page should look like by the end.

The materials list for each session is kept simple and affordable - most things you may already have at home. A full list is included in your confirmation email when you register. Sessions one and two use pencil, fineliner pen, and (for session one) a small set of watercolours. Session three uses watercolour paints and a brush.

Everyone who registers receives the recording of the full session. You can watch at a time that suits you - the recording is available for three months after each event, through to December 2026. You won't miss anything.

After each session, the recording is uploaded to your course page, which you can log in to at any time. You'll receive an email when it's ready - usually within a 24-48 hours of the live session.

Once you've registered, you'll receive a confirmation email. This will give you the link to the course page with the list of materials and zoom link. You will also get an email reminder closer to the date. Click the link at 6.30pm on the Thursday and you'll be brought straight into the session. You can join with your camera on or off, whichever you prefer. I will guide the session from my studio; you sketch along from wherever you are based.

You're very welcome to book just one, or two, or all three. Each session is completely standalone. The bundle option (all three for £50) is there if you'd like to save a little and have the whole summer in your diary, but there's no obligation.

These sessions are included in your Inspire membership at no extra cost. You'll receive your Zoom link via email exactly as other registrants do (just like your monthly zoom sessions on Tuesdays).

At the end of each session, I will let you know about the next one in the series. These are relaxed, friendly evenings, so bring a cup of tea, settle in, and don't worry too much about what ends up on the page. The making is what matters.
