"I've just joined the Inspire Membership this month and it is lovely to see everyone's interpretations of the warms ups and tutorials. I've had a lovely time playing in my sketchbook with the baubles - I got out two Derwent watercolour paint sets that I rarely use (graphitint and pastels) and then I used a mix of white jelly roll pen and a dip pen and gold/green/red/silver ink for my decorations."

"The lines are ragged, the shapes are bold and simplified, the results are inconsistent, the mess is SO real, my fingers are (I think permanently) stained, there are lino shavings EVERYWHERE, my desk is state and my family have forgotten what I look like.I think it’s safe to say that I’ve been utterly, utterly consumed by this. "Today I took this watercolour & fine liner painting ‘Stockton Flyer’ Preston Park Museum, Stockton On Tees, not far from me, to be added to their permanent collection!I did the painting for the Inspire monthly topic Urban Sketching in 2022. I submitted the painting to the call out for artwork connected to Stockton On Tees, my first time entering artwork. I was delighted and chuffed that it was chosen from 75 entries, along with another 14 pieces. It is going to be framed too."
I cannot thank you enough. I've re-found my art mojo.I have found my confidence to just do it - right or wrong - have a go. I'm Inspired so much.

"The thing I appreciate about the Inspire offering is that the prompts are open ended. I started the negative shapes flower vases [tiny moments] and thought, hmm, it’s a kind of composition exercise… doesn’t really appeal, but then I started to lean in to the things that interest me at the moment, which is tone / soft / hard edges / drawing your eyes into deep shadows, and I’ve found a way of using this to play with all these ideas."
